Support to a Trusts & Grants Team.

I was asked to provide maternity cover as the Trusts and Grants Manager for a large northern based sight loss and disability charity, working three days a week from their offices in Liverpool and Manchester. 


My primary task was ensuring the Trusts and Grants team met their agreed annual income target, as part of the overarching fundraising target for the charity. This involved all aspects of grant management – researching funders, developing and submitting bids, liaison with operational staff to collate information for developing bids and reporting back to funders, and managing funder relationships.


I was also responsible for managing, supporting and training two members of staff, and the team’s performance, appraisal, monthly management reports and budgets. I was included as part of the Fundraising Directorate’s senior management team and worked closely with the Fundraising Director in developing and refining the charity’s overarching Fundraising Strategy to reflect a changing focus in its service delivery.


As well as the Trust and Grants team successfully exceeding their fundraising target, I secured a three-year grant funding from Sport England for a project with the charity acting as lead partner for a consortium of local sight loss charities, and a successful bid for major Social Investment funding.
