Fundraising Planning and Review with Practical Implementation Support.

A small South London charity who provide services for the Irish community needed to diversify and strengthen its fundraising and income streams.

I had previously worked with the charity over number of years, predominantly supporting their Director with the preparation of trust and grant applications. This consultancy took a more strategic approach, involving a review of the charity’s communications and marketing activities as well as its fundraising to form the basis of a practical development plan that could be undertaken by a small and already overstretched staff team.

Leading on from the review and its recommendations, I then worked with the charity's staff and trustees delivering a series of workshops tackling key activities requiring additional training input.  This was followed by several months practical implementation support, working alongside team members to help embed changes to operational practice and strengthen key areas of the organisation’s capacity.

Although it remains dependent on trust and grant fundraising for the majority of its income, the charity has since begun developing its individual major donor fundraising activities, is using clearer fundraising messages on its materials, and has redesigned its website.

It has also invested in a new database for client management and outcome recording and has successfully incorporated the monitoring and evaluation techniques introduced during the consultancy into their day to day practice. As a result, this small charity is better able to clearly demonstrate the real impact their services have on their beneficiaries’ lives, helping strengthen their funding applications.
